Variously described as a digital stalwart, wheat-from-chaffer, grey-beard-only-it’s-actually-red, guru, pioneer and veteran – all by people who should know better – Richard is an unusual hybrid of content and commercial expertise. A lot of being in the right place at the right time means he has rare experience of the internet’s impact across media: from radio and tv journalist to launching BBC News online in ’97; running Tiscali’s award-winning portal for 7 years; managing gong-laden production company Magic Lantern; launching the Guardian’s video service; controlling Trinity Mirror’s network of regional news websites … it’s been a varied career. Now running digital teams for a rock band and a premiership football club, as well as advising the BFI, Richard will give his view on the secrets of surviving, and thriving, in the digital r/evolution. Ian is a founding partner at Tenshi Ventures. He has been growing and leading businesses in the games and technology sectors since 1989. This has included a 4 year spell as CEO of 300 man game developer Kuju Entertainment, an IPO on the AIM market, several trade sales of businesses and various fund raising exercises. Operationally, Ian led Kuju’s creative and business development expertise for many years, acquiring in-depth knowledge of marketing and brand development in the creative sector. Ian graduated from Bristol University with an Honours degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 1985. Outside of his commercial roles, Ian was Chairman of TIGA, the UK games developers’ trade association, for 4 years. He is a Director of the South East Media Network organisation, a member of the Game Developers Conference Advisory Board and a Director of the One Big Game charity initiative. Ian is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the British Computer Society.
Andrew Brook-Holmes has over two decades experience working in Information Technology. Andrew combines strategic technical thinking with the pragmatic application of technology for the UK’s leading media and telecommunications corporations. In his 12 years at Microsoft, Andrew has managed the architecture and successful launch of many of Microsoft’s cutting edge software development projects in the Public and Private sector including high profile systems such as the UK’s Government Gateway.
Andrew is also a director of the South East Media Network. A role which brings his unique insight into media technology and strategy within Microsoft to new media enterprises in the UK’s south east.
David began working in Film, TV and Corporate world as 1st AD, Production Manager, and Location Manager. This was followed by being a Producer and then 5-½ years as CEO of the New Producers Alliance (NPA) and as such supported emerging filmmakers by developing many successful training programs and events with industry and governmental partners. Over the last 5 years he has been a freelance consultant focusing on film and filmmaker development and training. He has been an independent assessor for Screen South Large awards for over six years, as well as a project development manager for South East Media Network (SEMN). He also continues his ongoing research into new methods of combining digital exploitation and distribution of film with new business models to maximise monetary and audience impact.
Nigel Hartnell has over 40 years experience in the IT industry. He is currently a non-executive director of FFastFill plc, a City-based Software as a Service (SaaS) company. Prior to this he had a wide-ranging career in ICL (now Fujitsu Services), holding a number of senior posts including Director of Services and subsequently of Corporate Development.
Nigel is currently non – executive Chairman of the South East Media Network, the Digital Content Sector Group for the South East England Development Agency. Nigel has also served as a Director of Intellect (the trade association for the high-tech industries) and was previously President of the CSSA (a predecessor organisation); he is currently a member of Intellect’s SME Advisory Group. Additionally he is a non-executive director of Screen South. He is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists and has an MA in Mathematics from Trinity College, Dublin.

A producer of over 20 award-winning drama series, 5 TV movies and 10 feature films, Linda has also undertaken a number of industry and public appointments. These have included being Honorary Chair of the Edinburgh International Television Festival, a Governor of the BFI (British Film Institute), a Governor of the NFTS (National Film and Television School), a member of BSAC (the British Screen Advisory Council), sitting on the IPTF (Independent Production Training (IPTF) for PACT (the Producer’s Alliance for Cinema and Television) and being a member of BAFTA Council (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) and Chairing BAFTA’S Kids Committee. She is currently Chair of the CFTF (Children’s Film and Television Foundation), a Trustee of the NFTS and sits on the board of Screen South for The UK Film Council, The Wales Creative IP Fund Investment Committee and the board of SEMN South East Media Network.

Jane Kagon is an international consultant in media and communications, focused on the intersection between digital media and education. She is a Senior Fellow at the USC Annenberg School’s Center for the Digital Future and previously was at UCLA, where she was the director of the post-graduate, professional training division for the entertainment industry. Jane is currently the Executive Director of RFK-LA Digital Media Lab and Archives, a non-profit digital media center at the Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools in Los Angeles, dedicated to the social justice legacy of Robert F. Kennedy. She recently designed and help launched an accredited distance learning masters degree in Media & Communications for TUW, a division of Touro University NYC., where she teaches online courses in 21st century media and communications, storytelling and media law. Prior to her consulting and academic career, Jane was an entertainment lawyer and long time Hollywood film production executive. She lives in Malibu California with her husband, Ed Greenberg.

Katz is the curator of ‘ITU Telecom World 2011′ (International Telecommunication Union is a UN agency) She is a creative, a catalyst, a connector and an expert in co-creation. She is the brains behind the b.TWEEN phenomenon, UKs first cross-sector market place, a dynamic network where digital disruptors from companies big and small come together to figure out what they can do together that they can’t do on their own. She judges for various awards including SXSW Accelerator, British Council Young Creative Entrepreneurs and the Big Chip Awards. In previous lives she made music, wrote screen plays, built installations, curated international festivals and made screen-based products look nice. She sits on Sheffield’s Culture Board and is an RSA fellow.

Alistair Maclean-Clark started as a clapper loader on The Curse of the Pink Panther, Octopussy and Superman II. Moving into advertising at Ogilvy and Mather, and running a commercials production company before working with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Really Useful Production Company. In 1989 Alistair became Director of European Production and Programming at Disney’s international television arm, Buena Vista Productions, producing over $12m of programming a year. Also responsible for launching the Disney’s joint venture in the breakfast television station, GMTV and as part of the management team developing the Disney Channel franchise in Europe.Following three years writing television dramas in LA, Alistair came back to the UK and teamed up with Melvyn Singer to form the Random Harvest Group which successfully raised and managed over $36 million of tax-driven investment over a five year. Since 2000, he has also produced and/or executive produced six feature films with budgets ranging from $3m to $35m.Currently founder and MD of AMC Pictures he is developing equity funds and a slate of feature, television and theatre projects He is also working with a Microsoft Award winning designer, Nick Wild to create a number of interactive, multi-platform sites to exploit the commercial potential of each of these areas of content within their media company, 360 Degrees Media.

Pouline Middleton, writer and MD of Fiction Works ApS, a transmedia content publisher based in Copenhagen. Since 1995 she has worked with digital content as commissioning editor for the main Danish public service broadcaster DR, format developer for various tv and web production companies and MD of the digital content network Crossroads Copenhagen. “One Woman Three Men” is her first transmedia storytelling which is available online, in print, and soon to include feature film and tv.
Neil has worked for 32 years in the film industry after starting his career at Rank Film Laboratories in 1978. After several promotions in technical and sales positions he took on the role of Senior Sales Manager of Deluxe London in 1996. His first Managing Director appointment was in 2002 when he took the step to co-run Arion Communication for many successful years. Neil’s achievement was rewarded with the offer to run Soho Film Labs as Managing Director for Ascent media.
Neil has represented the industry globally and has dealt with all Majors such as Paramount, Warner Bros, Universal and Disney along with the independent market within Europe. Dealing with very high end Producers and Directors but has also been very supportive of young and up and coming students and has very strong links with National and London film schools. Along with this he is a friend member of the British society of Cameramen.
Following the sale of Ascent Media globally Neil has taken the opportunity to set up a consultancy to aid other facilities and film makers within the industry.

Karl Schneider is Editorial Development Director of RBI-UK, the UK’s largest business publishing/information company with more than 100 market-leading brands. Karl has worked for RBI-UK for more than 20 years, in various editorial roles including Executive Editor of New Scientist and Editor-in-Chief of Computer Weekly.
Before he became a journalist Karl was a research physicist, working on nuclear fusion at the UK Atomic Energy Authority’s Culham Laboratory in Oxfordshire.

Andrew Smith joined Pinewood in June 2008, as Group Director Corporate Affairs and is responsible for communications, public affairs, human resources and corporate responsibility. He is a member of the Film Skills Council. Prior to this, he acted as an adviser to Pinewood on issues such as film tax credit and state aids during his ten years as Managing Partner of The Policy Partnership.
Susan Voase is a senior business professional with strength in Strategy & Planning, Business Development, Marketing, Relationship Management and Change Management, having worked for a number of companies in the public and private sector, and central and local government ranging from large corporate organisations to start-up ventures including Barclays Property Services, Hamilton Bradshaw, PwC, Abbey National Plc, Microsoft, EDS, Fujitsu, ICL, InHealth Group, Halcrow, BBC Property Services, DWP, Lloyds TSB, Birmingham City Council, SEMN and Futurelab Education. Originally from Los Angeles, Dennis Weinreich came to London in 1971 to work on an animated television series, “The Jackson Five” for what he thought would be a 6 week commitment… He is part of the Pinewood Studios Team as special consultant for Studio Projects, reducing his workload from being the Managing Director for Film and Television Post Production at Pinewood Studios Group. For over 20 years he was owner and managing director of the successful Videosonics Cinema Sound Ltd, a major London Film and Television audio post facility. Through the late 1970′s and 80′s Dennis was a much sought after music engineer and producer working with bands such as Supertramp, Queen, Jeff Beck, The Real Thing, Wham, Blancmange, Tom Robinson, The Walker Brothers and many more. Dennis is on the board of UK Screen and The APRS. He is chairman of the UK Screen Audio Working Group, the APRS Audio Post chapter APPS and is chair of the UK Screen Film and Television Audio Awards, The Conch. He has recently been made a fellow of the Association of Motion Picture Sound and is a member of The AES. He shot edited and created sound effects for the Oscar winning short Is It Right to be Right with Orson Welles in 1970.

He started Worth, a digital marketing and communications agency, in 1996 with a specialism in health and environmental projects that promote behaviour change. The company has won numerous major awards including BAFTAs, the IVCA Grand Prix and NMA Effectiveness. John is a passionate speaker on the fast-changing healthcare landscape and is especially interested in technologies that promote and enable patient empowerment and involvement.
