The streets of London will be strangely devoid of teenagers this weekend as tens of thousands of young people, families and fans make the journey to MCM London Comic Con at the Excel Centre this weekend where the major Hollywood studios, leading games and comic companies and A-list talent including Edgar Wright will vie for their interest on upcoming projects.
This 12th year of London Comic Con will see Edgar Wright unveil exclusive insights into his newest feature The World’s End starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost and a rare UK appearance from Game Of Thrones and Once Upon A Time writer Jane Espenson.
TV fans can expect to see stars in attendance from hit shows Teen Wolf, Once Upon a Time, Falling Skies, Hemlock Grove, plus heartthrob Tyler Hoechlin, movie veteranDougray Scott and True Blood’s Camilla Luddington who recently made the leap from screen to video game icon as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider.
With over 80,000 people in total expected to attend, this year’s London Comic Con has become an essential date for movie studios including Lionsgate, Paramount Pictures,Universal Pictures and Warner Bros.
The world of film and TV aren’t the only areas explored at London Comic Con; the gaming zone will play host to the likes of Capcom, Microsoft, Namco Bandai, Nintendo, Sony andSquare-Enix as they take gaming fans from the current generation to the next. Expected to draw record crowds, gamers can thrill to truly exclusive content as the likes of Resident Evil: Revelations, Splinter Cell Blacklist and The Last of Us lead the line-up.
The icing on the gaming cake will be Activision’s World Exclusive Gameplay debut ofDeadpool, an all-new actioner starring the Marvel Comics iconic anti-hero. Visitors will be the first in the world to get a hands-on preview of the game and receive some amazing gifts just for taking the opportunity to come and see what the game has to offer.
Topping off the entertainment section of the show are comic books. With the rise in popularity of superheroes in the mainstream, London Comic Con is the perfect occasion to track down some of your favourite movie heroes in their original format. Special guests include David Hine, Frazer Irving, Emma Vieceli, John McCrea, Al Davison, Lee Bradley and, attending for the first time, Yishan Li.
