This year’s Firefox Flicks competition is focusing on the influence of the web. The power of the online world is at our fingertips through mobile devices, and Firefox Flicks are looking for filmmakers to express their vision of what that means to them, in 60 seconds or less.
Your flick can be live-action, animation or a combination of both, the only thing the judges are looking for is a unique story. You can shoot it in 3D or on your mobile device. It’s up to you, but make sure to submit your entry before submissions close on July 31st.
There are many chances and ways to win throughout the competition. That means you’ll be in the running for the Grand Prize, but you could win a Regional Prize, People’s Choice Award and Early Entry Award as well. Plus, the top three entries from each Early Entry deadline automatically move on to the finals and a chance at the top prize (so get your flick in early).
Edward Norton (Fight Club, Moonrise Kingdom), actor, director, producer and activist, will be leading the judging panel. The winner (or winning team) will get to fly to Los Angeles to work with producers (and Flicks judges) Franklin Leonard and Couper Samuelson, and representatives from Panavision to professionally produce their winning entry using high-end Panavision equipment.
As part of the same trip, winners will also receive a one-day training on sound engineering at the Dolby Institute, and timing allowing, invitations to a movie premiere and after party at the Dolby Theatre.
A 5,000 USD top prize and 2,500 USD for the runner-up will go to the top two flicks from each of the contest regions: Latin America, North America, Asia Pacific and Europe, the Middle East and Africa. All flicks submitted by July 31 are eligible to the People’s Choice Award. The 3 that earn the most votes in August win a Firefox Flicks swag bag and will be posted on our Firefox channels for millions to see Last but not least, there will be multiple chances to win ,000 for submitting your flick early. Enter before the May 29 and July 3rd deadlines to be eligible.
