IC tomorrow is pleased to announce the ‘Digital Innovation Contest 2013’ in partnership with HarperCollins, Constable & Robinson, MediaCom, Ogilvy Labs and JCDecaux, FremantleMedia UK, Samsung, and YouTube.
The contest, which opens today, is offering seven awards of up to £25,000 (excluding VAT) each to develop innovative commercial prototypes that meet the following challenges:
- Beyond the eBook, in partnership with HarperCollins
- Social and recommendation, in partnership with Constable & Robinson
- Next generation location specific advertising, in partnership with MediaCom
- Innovation in digital out-of-home advertising, in partnership with Ogilvy Labs and JCDecaux
- Enhanced digital content, in partnership with FreemantleMedia UK
- Developing the TV, in partnership with Samsung
- Exploring mobile-influenced content, in partnership with YouTube
The contest is open to any UK-based company or developer; it is not necessary to have an existing app or service to apply, or to be currently active in the challenge sector. Applicants will be judged on their ability to design a prototype solution, which both meets the specific category challenge and shows sufficient innovation and wider commercial potential and applicability. The applicants must also have a clear idea of the revenue earning potential/business model of their proposed solution.
In addition to the £25,000 of funding, winners of the ‘Digital Innovation Contest 2013’ will retain their intellectual property and benefit from the valuable opportunity to establish an early customer for their new technology, by running a minimum three-month trial with the relevant contest partner.
Deadline for submissions to the contest is 12 noon, Wednesday 24 April.
Full contest and application details are available here.
