Platform Doha 2013 15 – 19 April 2013

Game Developers Expo The Ritz-Carlton Doha, Qatar

Qatar is one of the wealthiest nations in the world per capita and is developing a clear strategy for future growth as the hub of key industries including gaming, content creation, Transmedia and communications in the Arabic world.

Al Jazeera the global Arab world broadcaster is based in Doha and clearly demonstrates that not only is Qatar serious about this industry but they already have a proven track record.

The Qatar Foundation funds a wide range of activity from the development of new industries in Qatar to global humanitarian projects alongside working within Qatar’s 2030 vision of building a knowledge based economy and further establishing Qatar as the gateway to the MENA region.

What are the long term prospects?

The Arab world is already a significant market for all forms of gaming but we believe there is the opportunity for vast expansion particularly in the fields of making games, content, language and graphics more suitable for the Arab world. At a simple level this could just be about translation but at a higher level changing graphics to reflect local physical environments, dress and in certain games genre – who wins.

There is also considerable interest in developing games to provide educational and learning content.

Who should consider attending?

Anyone who is in the Game design, development, transmedia or content creation business looking to:

• Exhibit and demonstrate their product in a large and wealthy market.

• Secure development funding for new games concepts.

• Secure support in terms of money and local expertise to change existing products or develop new games for the Arab and wider Muslim market.
