Ukie is putting on the Play Day Party at this year’s Digital Shoreditch Festival. The Play Day, part of the Digital Shoreditch Festival of events, takes place on 31 May and covers the latest ideas in design, delivery and creation of games and playful experiences. It is aimed at everyone interested in harnessing the power of play, and brings together the brightest and most respected minds working in games and interactive entertainment in London today.
Ukie is organising the Play Day Party in association with PlayGen which follows the day’s talks and other activities. Taking place in Shoreditch’s Big Top from 6.30pm, Party guests will have the chance to network with developers, publishers, innovative companies creating new interactive experiences, as well as investors. The Ukie Play Day Party will be fully interactive and includes Johan Sebastian Jousting, video game karaoke, 100 player co-operative game Renga by wallFour as well as a gaming arcade by Replay Events.
Johann Sebastian Joust is a no-graphics, digitally-enabled game for 2 to 7 players, designed for motion controllers. When the music plays in slow-motion, the controllers are extremely sensitive to movement. When the music speeds up, this threshold becomes less strict, giving the players a small window to dash at their opponents. If your controller is ever moved beyond the allowable threshold, you’re out! Johann Sebastian Joust is developed by Die Gute Fabrik and presented by ‘The Wild Rumpus‘.
Award-winning video game radio show and podcast One Life Left will be bringing its celebrated video game karaoke to the Party. Premiered at Nottingham GameCity and fresh from a triumphant appearance at San Francisco’s Game Developers Conference, video game karaoke takes classic singalong songs and makes them about video games.
Ukie CEO Dr Jo Twist said: “The party will be a brilliant way to mix with some of the brightest and most fun people in our industry and we are really excited to bring the likes of Wild Rumpus and One Life Left to the Big Top to round off what promises to be a really valuable and interesting day of insight. At the Party, you will also be able to see some cracking games and network with investors. Last year’s first Digital Shoreditch festival was a great success and this year’s promises to be even better. The Play Day features fantastic speakers and will be unmissable for anyone in the games and interactive entertainment space.”
