About the Entrepreneur Pitching Event

London Business Angels and The City of London Corporation would like to announce the first Entrepreneur Pitching Event of the Angels in the City Programme. This exclusive event, held at the InnovationWarehouse on Wednesday 25th April, will commence at 14.00 and finish at 19.30.

The Entrepreneur Pitching Event offers start-up and early stage businesses in London, with innovative products and services across a range of technologies and sectors, the opportunity to pitch to a group of Angel Investors from the new Angels in the City Initiative. These investors have been recruited from the Financial Square Mile and bring both strong financial and business experience alongside their investment capacity. They will be joined at the event by angel investors from London Business Angels, the oldest and most established angel group, with over 110 investors and having closed 17 deals in 2011. LBA has leveraged its 30 years of investing experience to create the Angels in the City Network of Investors.

Many of these investors will be looking to make use of the new 50% tax break under the new Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme, due to launch at beginning of April, so businesses seeking less than £150k will be of specific interest.

Fifteen Companies will be selected to pitch at this exciting event, interspersed with coffee breaks when you will meet and network with investors and finishing with a networking session with wine and nibbles.

Profile of a Business

Below are a number of features that the business should be exhibiting to pitch on the Angels in the City programme:

- Looking for between £100k and £500k, but SEIS deals less than £150k especially of interest

- Post Proof of Concept

- Strong entrepreneurial team

- Scalable Business model showing strong capacity for revenue generation

- Clear differentiation of your business in the market from your competitors

- Identified target market and share and target market and what Customer Validation you have

- An attractive investment proposal and exit strategy

To be eligible, your business needs to be based in one of the following boroughs:

Tower Hamlets; Hackney; Islington; Camden; Lambeth; Southwark

This is a competitive process and applications will be assessed by panel of experts with a view to selecting 15 to attend. However all those selected will also be offered one day pitch training and preparation for the event, delivered by London Business Angels expert trainers

A brochure of pitching companies with summaries of each company will also be produced for the event.


For entrepreneurs selected to pitch there is no charge to attend.

17.00 – 17.25 Coffee Break and investors visit the company stands

17.25 – 18.40 5 companies present, each in a 8 minute slot with 5 minutes of Q&A

18.40 – 19.45 Wine, Nibbles and Networking and investors visit the company stands


About the Innovation Warehouse- Pitching Venue

Formed by a group of entrepreneurs in collaboration with The City of London Corporation, the Innovation Warehouse provides a community and runway for businesses to achieve sustainability and high growth. Its location is right in the heart of the city, next to one of the oldest markets in London, Smithfield Market, makes a good venue for this pitching event. The venue has good IT infrastructure and WiFi is available.

About the Angels in the City Initiative

Angels in the City is supported by City of London Corporation and is delivered by London Business Angels.

This initiative aims to increase the awareness of individuals to become Investors and to bring their financial capacity and business experience to invest in innovative, entrepreneurs with high growth potential in the City fringes, including the exciting Tech City cluster.
