Entering the Big Chip Awards is a simple on-line process. You need to complete a few short entry screens giving your details, a description of the entry and a few words on why it should win. The first two entries are free and subsequent entries cost £85. In 2012 there are 16 categories open to entries from the North of England, inlcuding the Little Chip student award, and one international category open to entries from anywhere. Entries close 5th March 2012. This year an important rule change will give a better chance for bigger projects that take more than a year to show results. Projects – such as campaigns or products – that were launched more than a year ago but have shown substantial, measurable progress in the last year will now be eligible. The high-powered judging panel will be chaired again by Michael Nutley, and includes Ajaz Ahmed, founder of Freeserve and Thinking Digital founder Herb Kim.
